We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Paediatrics team as a key member of our healthcare organization. As a Registered Nurse specializing in paediatric care, you will provide nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents in a variety of paediatric settings, including general paediatrics, paediatric intensive care, and paediatric oncology, among others. You will work collaboratively with a team of healthcare providers to ensure safe and effective care for our paediatric patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of paediatric patients, including physical, emotional, developmental, and psychosocial aspects, and develop and implement individualized care plans based on the assessment findings.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions according to established protocols and medication orders, and monitor and document the effects of treatments on patients.
  • Monitor and manage paediatric patients’ physical and emotional well-being, including vital signs, pain management, and emotional support, and provide appropriate interventions as needed.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including paediatricians, other nurses, allied health professionals, and support staff, to optimize patient outcomes and ensure safe and effective paediatric care.
  • Educate and support paediatric patients and their families on various aspects of care, including disease management, medication administration, and home care instructions, to promote self-care and enhance the understanding of the paediatric health condition.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to paediatric patients and their families during hospitalization or procedures, and assist in managing emotional and behavioural issues in paediatric patients.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of paediatric patients, and ensure their safety and well-being at all times, adhering to infection prevention and control protocols and other relevant guidelines.
  • Collaborate with paediatricians and other healthcare providers in the assessment and management of paediatric emergencies, and provide appropriate interventions and support as needed.
  • Document all nursing care provided in electronic health records (EHR) or other relevant medical software, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of documentation.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, and evidence-based practice to continuously improve paediatric nursing care and outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices in paediatric nursing and maintain required certifications.

Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with Sydney’s nursing regulatory body.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in paediatric nursing, preferably in a hospital or paediatric care setting.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of paediatric nursing principles, growth and development, paediatric diseases and conditions, and paediatric medication management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively communicate with paediatric patients and their families.
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care based on paediatric patients’ needs, developmental stages, and family dynamics.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant medical software.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
