The Pastry Cook is responsible for creating a variety of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods. They will prepare doughs and batters, decorate and garnish finished products, and ensure all items are baked to perfection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes to prepare doughs and batters.
  • Roll, cut, and shape doughs to form various pastries and desserts.
  • Operate baking equipment such as ovens, mixers, and sheeters.
  • Monitor baking process to ensure goods are baked to perfection.
  • Decorate baked goods with icing, glaze, and other toppings.
  • Prepare and present cakes, pies, tarts, and other desserts for display.
  • Clean and maintain baking equipment and work area.
  • Order supplies and ingredients as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient operation of the kitchen.
  • Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and fulfilling special orders.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a pastry cook or related field.
  • Knowledge of baking techniques, equipment, and ingredients.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment: The Pastry Cook will work in a bakery or kitchen environment. They may be exposed to hot ovens and other equipment, and may be required to work early mornings or late evenings.
