Family Support Officer

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Family Support Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with families to provide support and resources, and to promote positive parenting practices and child development. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of family dynamics, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to promoting healthy family relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with families to identify their needs, goals, and aspirations, and develop individualized plans to achieve them.
  • Provide information, support, and advocacy to families to help them access services and programs, such as housing, employment, education, and healthcare.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and organizations to facilitate collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Organize and facilitate training and education sessions for families on parenting, child development, and healthy family relationships.
  • Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness of family support services and programs and to engage families.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to families in need, including connecting them with emergency services and resources.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation of client interactions, program activities, and outcomes.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, child development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with families, providing support and resources, and promoting positive parenting practices and child development.
  • Strong understanding of family dynamics, including the impact of social and economic factors on family functioning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with families and community partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to collaboration and cooperation.
  • Familiarity with family support services and programs, including government-funded programs and services.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with database management and record keeping.
