As a Carpenter/Joiner, your main responsibility will be to construct, install, and repair timber structures, including doors, windows, and furniture. Your job description may include the following
Tasks:

*Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the scope of work and materials required for the project.

*Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.

*Cut and shape wood, plastic, fiberglass, or other materials, using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machines.

*Join materials together using nails, screws, staples, or adhesives, and install hardware, such as hinges, locks, and knobs.

*Install wooden structures, such as windows, doors, frames, and stairs, following established safety rules and building codes.

*Sand and finish surfaces to a smooth finish, and apply stains, varnishes, or paint to protect the wood from moisture and decay.

*Repair and maintain wooden structures and furniture, replacing damaged or worn parts as needed.

*Maintain a safe and clean work environment, ensuring that tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.

To succeed as a Carpenter/Joiner, you will need to have good manual dexterity, physical stamina, and a keen eye for detail. You should also have good communication skills, as you may need to work closely with other tradespeople and clients to ensure that the project is completed on time and to a high standard.
